Evaluation

Our task was to take photos of three different tasks(Nature, school and photo essay).

With the nature and decay tasks we were meant to choose one of these. I chose the nature task because there was more variety. For this I took photos of all kinds of plants and flowers. For the school brochure task I took different photos of school and (just like the nature) edited them so that so that they looked more interesting and professional. For the photo essay task, we were meant to take photos of a chosen topic. I chose to take photos of me making fruit and vegetable juice. I then put each image together and uploaded them to the blog.

I enjoyed taking the school photos the most because I had a lot of fun editing them, I also think that they were the most interesting because I could feature people in them.
Another part I enjoyed was taking the nature photos because I got to go outside and experiment with different photo techniques.
The part that I enjoyed the least was taking photos for my photo essay. This was because I did not have many ideas and most of my other ideas either failed or were not very interesting.
Another reason why I hated taking the photos for the photo essay was because the topic that had I chosen to do (making a juice smoothie) was not as exciting as I had hoped it could of been.

                                       This is my image.

This is a professional photo which is similar to my photo.

The difference between my image and the professional image is that the professional image shows far more leaves. Honestly I prefer my image because it shows a close up of leaves with the drops of water magnifying the colour and reflecting the sunlight.
The professional image is good too because it has great features of its own e.g. great colour balance, showing many leaves all at once etc.

                                       This is my image.

This is a professional photo which is similar to my photo.

My (pink flowers in front of house) image is my least favourite image out of all of my images. The reason why  is because its a little blurry, especially around the petals. So because of this, the professional image is my favourite because the colour makes it extremely eye-catching and because it is not blurry.
Another reason why I love the professional image is because the way the photo was taken makes the flowers look like they are stretching across the screen.

I improved my photography skills by researching tips on the internet, looking at help sheets and getting help from my friends. These were useful because it meant that I could improve my (once terrible) photography skills.
Another skill I needed to improve was editing images.
The help I got was similar to what I got for my photography skills e.g. Help sheets, internet research and help from friends.
Also, lots of practice helped with both of these skills. Practising over and over again meant that I could improve my skills and get better each time.

To present my photo essay and nature photos  I put them into two separate slide shows by using a website called Flickr. The reason why I chose to use Flickr is because it is extremely easy to upload photos and create slide shows.

Finally, I put together a questionnaire (using a website called Freedback) asking people about their opinions on my photos and edits etc. They managed to give me feedback by putting their email address's on the bottom of the questionnaire. This would then send me a message on my e-mail telling me the results of the questionnaire.
Most of the results that I received were positive and sometimes a little mixed up at times (mixed reviews). The main issue that people had with my photo essay photos was that they wanted to see more variety.

Nature (working progress)

Nature photos

This is a close up of a sunflower. The light condition was not very bright, so the sunflower stuck out.

This is a close up of a green plant that has been blurred out with a clear background of red/yellow plants.
This is a close up of ivy and leafs growing up the side of a wall. The photo shows the ivy climbing and scrambling up the wall of a house.

This photo shows a close up of some pink flowers. The flowers are slightly blurred but the green leaves are very clear.
This is a close up of a small branch with a load of green and red vegetation in the background. The leaves at the front are slightly are slightly blurry.
This is a close up of some leaves on a church yard. Most of the leaves in the background are blurred for effect. The big leaf on the front of the picture is crystal clear so that it stands out and adds to the image's  effect.
This is a close up of a worn out grave stone wrapped in ivy. The background of the image is slightly blurred and the grave stone and the ivy are clear to give it a clean and clear effect.
This is a close up of pink flower with an urban background. The flash makes the pink flowers look more brighter and therefore stand out more. The flash also makes the gravel behind the flowers look a lot more darker.
This is a close up of some green leaves. The leaves have sparkling water drops that make them shine and stand out in the photo. Most of the background is blurred so that the leaves with the rain drops stand out.

School photos

BEFORE:

This is a border shot which was taken between a wired  fence. The two people in the middle are the main focus in the photo.

AFTER:

This photo was edited to look more dark with little patches of colour that leak through.
BEFORE:

This is a shot that was taken in a hallway. It was accidently blurred, but we are keeping it because we are going to edit it and make it look more professional. The person in the middle of the hallway is the main focus of the photo.

                                                                      IN BETWEEN:

This is how I edit the photo. I click on Filter, Artistic and then Colored Pencil.

                                                                        AFTER:

This photo was edited to look slightly ghostly and mysterious.

This is an image of some flags hanging in the school hall. The photo is slightly blurry because it was taken in a rush.

                                                                      IN BETWEEN:

To edit it I clicked on 'Artistic' and then tested out all of the effects until the image looked ready.

                                                                      AFTER:

In this image I made the school hall look very dark and gothic. Although the hanging flags slightly brighten up the hall.

BEFORE:

This is an image of two people sitting outside of the school.

IN BETWEEN:

When editing it I wanted the image to look like it had been taken out of a comic book.
                                                                      AFTER:

This photo has been edited to look like an old fashioned, black and white comic drawing. The background of the photo (school building) is less filled in than the two people at the front. The two people at the front are the focus of the photo.

                                                                        BEFORE:

This is a photo of three people standing above a puddle in a field. The people's reflections are clearly shown in the puddle, although the puddle only shows half of the people's body's.

This image was made to look a little bit like a modern art piece (with the art style).
